Letter to My 30-Year-Old Self

Photography by: Taylor Pearl Photography

Every year I reflect on my year with myself in some shape or fashion. It’s usually within my journal. So I decided to share this journal entry with you all because I know I will need to revisit these words to myself and want to encourage you all to share similar sentiments with yourself. I truly celebrate April 12 as Rose Day! However, whether it’s for your birthday and in celebration of another orbit around the sun or just a Tuesday when you need to hear this. Do It!

What a year! So much learned and so much accomplished. You worked so hard, especially in your career. You didn’t take no for an answer, advocated for yourself and got the promotion you deserved doing the exact work you want to do. Talk about manifesting! You learned the right boundaries to have and never let your voice be silenced and it’s paying off. You truly are harvesting crops you’ve sown.

You’re such a good and loving mom. Tristan has everything he needs in you and it’s only the beginning. He is taken care of, he’s a priority and knows he is loved deeply. Everything you do is with him and his wellbeing in mind. Every sacrifice you make is worth it. You’re doing a great job!

You even gave love another chance. Although not the best situation or the outcome you hoped for, you gave it a chance. You loved him, gave space and grace, and learned so much about yourself as a partner. There’s no regrets here. You are so supportive, caring and a true helpmate. You can be all of those things, while being an independent, career-driven and hardworking woman. Don’t let anyone tell you any different. You are all of that and some! Going into this new year of life, stay grounded in that. You don’t have to settle. Get everything you deserve and desire from a partner because you’re prepared to do the same. You’re going to make a deserving man happy and you deserve reciprocal love and happiness.

You have new money and it’s just the start! More will come. Stay focused on why you pursued it. Break cycles and learn from old mistakes. You got this! You and your baby will have everything you need and want.

I’m so truly proud of you! I look forward to this 31st year with you. Continue to flourish!

Love,

Aisha Rose
